A refusal to accept that the second half of a woman's life is supposed to be smaller, quieter, or less than the first. A refusal to call hot flashes and lost strength and disappearing sleep just aging. A refusal to settle for what's been on offer.
If you are reading this, there is a good chance you are one of them — and not because you don't care. Because no one has shown you what your body actually needs in this chapter. Because generic fitness was never built for your hormones. Because the menopause clinic gave you a prescription, not a plan. Because the wellness retreat was beautiful and you came home and nothing actually changed.
The science is settled. Strength training is the single highest-leverage intervention for hormonal health, bone density, metabolic function, and the energy you need to live the rest of your life. The market is not. We built this for you because the answer that exists is good — and the way it has been delivered to women like you is not.
You don't have to do this alone.
I am Alejandra Belmar — Chilean-born, Brooklyn-based, expert trainer and functional medicine health coach. I have spent more than twenty years working with women through perimenopause, menopause, postnatal recovery, and the long arc that follows. The work I now teach as Antu Mar was refined one woman at a time — hundreds of hours of practice, hundreds of bodies, hundreds of conversations about what was actually working and what was not.
My surname — Belmar — translates from Spanish as beautiful sea. The mar in Antu Mar carries that name forward, but the work is not about me. It is about you, and the women I have spent my career standing alongside, and the body each of you is actually living in.
I live between worlds, by inheritance: the Mapudungun-speaking south of Chile and the Spanish-speaking center, the ancient and the institutional, the quiet of the long view and the urgency of what your body needs right now. Antu Mar is the structure that lets all of that become useful — for you.
No wellness mysticism. No motivational poster. What I teach you takes the hormonal physiology of women aged 40 and over seriously — and translates settled research into a practice you can actually do, on a Tuesday, in the body you have right now.
You are intelligent. You are busy. You are tired of being marketed to. My voice with you is direct, generous, and unwilling to condescend. We work together. The relationship is a partnership, never a prescription.
We are not here to undo aging. We are here to build the strength that lets you arrive at fifty, sixty, seventy with energy in your body and choice in your life. Every season contributing to the next. The body you are living in is not a problem. It is the foundation we build on, together.
In Mapudungun — the language of the Mapuche people of southern Chile and Argentina — Antu is the word for sun. In Mapuche cosmology, Antu is the principal Pillan spirit: light, wisdom, life-force.
It is a sacred name from a living indigenous culture. We hold it with respect. We acknowledge Mapudungun as the source language of Antu in every public-facing material we publish, and we commit to supporting Mapuche language preservation through defined annual contributions as we grow.
In Spanish, mar is the sea — the Pacific that runs the entire western edge of Chile, the sea of Belmar, the sea Alejandra grew up beside.
Together, Antu Mar reflects the lived reality of contemporary Chilean identity, in which Mapuche heritage and Hispanic language have coexisted for centuries and continue to shape the country in ways neither tradition fully owns alone. We hold both lineages, with care.
Sun and sea. Strength and decades. The meeting place where you build what's next.
